Position Title: Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Fairfax, VA (On-site)
Assignment Type: Permanent Hire
Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000 annually
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description:Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join their accounting team. This role will be responsible for managing full-cycle accounts payable processes, ensuring vendor invoices are processed accurately and payments are completed on time.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a construction, manufacturing, or project-based environment and will be comfortable working with a high volume of invoices while collaborating with multiple internal departments. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Process vendor invoices and ensure accurate entry into the accounting system
- Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation where applicable
- Prepare and process vendor payments, including ACH and check runs
- Monitor vendor accounts and resolve invoice, contract, or payment discrepancies
- Reconcile vendor statements and investigate outstanding balances
- Accurately code expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centers
- Track payment schedules and identify opportunities for vendor payment discounts
- Maintain organized and compliant documentation in accordance with company policies
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve payment inquiries
- Collaborate with operations and purchasing teams to ensure invoice accuracy and proper approvals
- Assist with accounting documentation and support audit or compliance requirements
- Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed
- Minimum of 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience
- Experience working in construction, manufacturing, or a project-based environment
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry and reconciliation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with accounting systems (construction accounting software experience is a plus)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and work independently or as part of a team
