Position: Facilities Security Officer (FSO)

Overview

Responsibilities
  • Program administration:
    Direct the company s security program and serve as the main point of contact for the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and other government agencies.
  • Personnel security:
    Manage the full lifecycle of employee security clearances, including processing initial requests, tracking investigations, maintaining records in government systems like DISS/NBIS, and conducting briefings and debriefings.
  • Physical security:
    Implement and oversee physical security measures for cleared areas, such as Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs). This includes managing access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and surveillance equipment.
  • Information security:
    Establish procedures for the control, storage, marking, and destruction of classified materials and government-furnished information; oversee the security of information systems and collaborate with IT and Cybersecurity teams.
  • Compliance and auditing:
    Conduct security self-inspections, prepare for DCSA audits, and report any security violations or incidents; ensure all security plans and procedures are compliant with federal regulations.
  • Security training:
    Develop and deliver security education, briefings, and training to all cleared employees on topics such as insider threat awareness, foreign travel, and proper handling of classified information.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Citizenship and clearance:
    Must be a U.S. citizen and possess an active U.S. government TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Experience:

    3+ years of experience in industrial security, with demonstrated experience implementing and managing security programs.
  • Knowledge:
    Thorough working knowledge of the NISPOM, federal rules (e.g., 32 CFR Part 117), and relevant government systems like DISS (Defense Information System for Security), NBIS, and e-QIP.
  • Training:
    Must complete the required FSO Program Management training provided by the DCSA.
  • Certifications:

    Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Industrial Security Professional (ISP) are preferred.
Education and Skills
  • Education:

    A bachelor s degree in a relevant field like security management, criminal justice, or a similar field, or equivalent experience; a bachelor’s degree in engineering is highly beneficial.
  • Communication skills:
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for creating security plans, giving briefings, and communicating with government agencies and internal staff.
  • Problem-solving:
    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify potential threats, resolve incidents, and adapt to evolving security challenges.
  • Attention to detail:
    Meticulous attention to detail is critical for maintaining accurate records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing clearances.
  • Organizational skills:
    The ability to effectively organize security programs, manage documents, and prioritize tasks is essential.
