Role OverviewTSA is accepting applications for Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) at airports across the United States. This is the job most travelers already know as TSA Agent, Airport Security Screener, or Checkpoint Screener.
TSOs are customer facing, non-armed workers who screen passengers and baggage at the security checkpoints, check IDs and boarding passes, help travelers get through security smoothly, as well as assess the area and detect potential threats. No prior security experience is required. TSA provides paid training to get you job‑ready.
Position Details- Openings:
Multiple positions nationwide - Starting Pay: $22.00–$44.00, varies by airport needs and experience
- Annual Compensation: $45,760–$65,341+ per year start, plus full federal benefits
- Schedule:
Shifts set by the airport (may include nights, weekends, holidays, overtime)
- Paid Time Off:

- Checkpoint Screening:
Screen passengers, carry‑on items, and checked baggage using wands, X‑ray machines, and other security technology - Customer Service:
Check IDs and boarding passes, answer questions, and help travelers by answering questions and moving them through lines quickly and efficiently - Bag & Person Checks:
Perform pat‑downs and bag searches when alarms go off or items need a closer look - Security Support:
Monitor and control access to secure areas and follow TSA procedures at all times
