Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in a non-acute environment. Provides care in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. Is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under supervision. Utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data, plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs.
- Review patient history and physical with patient/family; review information from other health care team members; review diagnostics and lab data; report abnormal results to the physician and other appropriate caregivers.
- Formulate a plan of care (including discharge planning) based on assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team.
- Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team; follow physician orders and nursing plan of care; ensure compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
- Delegate appropriately and provide nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and staff; promote continuity of care through effective communication with caregivers.
- Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed and in collaboration with the health care team; monitor progress toward goals and outcomes.
- Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensure documentation is legible, timely, and compliant with policy.
- Contribute to patient outcomes through evidence-based practice; participate in quality improvement activities and clinical education of facility personnel, students, families, and visitors; act as a preceptor or mentor when appropriate.
- In some roles, supervise staff and workflow within the department.
Must possess a valid current or temporary Alaska RN license. Requires the knowledge and skills normally demonstrated by an Associate’s degree in nursing. BLS certification is required. ACLS/PALS or additional certification and/or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Professional certification is preferred.

Notes Shifts:
Full Time;
Days; 40 hr/wk; 8 hr shifts;
Monday through Friday.
