Winter activities include northern lights, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, hockey, curling, ice fishing, dog mushing, ice climbing, hunting, ice art, world-class hot springs, community-wide art shows, and festivals.
Responsibilities- Monitors daily workflow of departmental processes and works assigned shifts in supervision. Maintains skills to perform all positions supervised. Responsible for day-to-day staff management and administration for a unit or other assigned area. Manages staff timecards and schedules, new hire readiness/processing, staff FTE status changes, staffing levels, staff development and education, corrective action management, staff portfolio audits, staff education completion, and termination processing.
- Supervises the operations of assigned areas, including hiring, orientation, scheduling, educational needs and staff competency, performance reviews, and disciplinary functions. Supports Laboratory Director in resolving systems issues and enforces department policies.
- Ensures standards for compliance, equipment use, and quality control are met as required by accrediting, state, and federal agencies. Provides timely information regarding variances to leadership and delegates duties appropriately.
- Coordinates quality and safety activities including department Quality Improvement projects; oversees proficiency and competency testing; facilitates QA and safety committee activities; ensures quality results through control materials, instrument maintenance, analysis and reporting of proficiency testing results, and review of results with the medical director.
- Oversees occurrence reports, investigation of concerns from physicians, patients and other customers; follow-up, problem resolution, record keeping and reporting.
- Makes recommendations for technical changes and improvements in the section with the Medical Director. Works with vendors and technical representatives to maintain equipment services and contracts.
