Overview

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for multiple Education Coordinator's for the Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC) located in Mackenzie Point, Alaska. Watch Alaska DOC's video: DOC Extended Cut.mp4 ()

As an Education Coordinator with Goose Creek Correctional Center, you will be responsible for:

• Teaching and assisting prisoners with educational pursuits to include ABE, GED, and ESL.
• Approving and helping with correspondence courses, including test proctoring
• Developing, instructing, and reviewing lesson plans for programs in conjunction with the University of Alaska CIOS program.
• Counseling prisoners in areas of career development, education, and vocational training.

Goose Creek Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 1500 inmates and employs over 350 staff. You will be working in a classroom environment and interacting with other staff and inmates daily.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in education, counseling, social or behavior sciences or a closely related field; AND One year of journey level paraprofessional experience in educational or vocational education programs or services. This experience is equivalent to work such as the Vocational Rehabilitation Assistant 2 or Education Program Assistant, and similar classes with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent with another employer.

Additional qualifying work experience may substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
