Overview
Are you a University of Alaska student looking to build professional experience? The UAF College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) will have a variety of Student Assistant positions available throughout the academic year to support activities in the lab, field, and office.
Multiple departments within CFOS will consider applicants from this pool as positions become available.
What We’re Looking ForTo thrive in these roles, it’s helpful to have an interest in and general knowledge of laboratory practices, scientific research, or office/administrative support. We value candidates with strong organizational skills, a willingness to learn, and a desire to grow professionally.
Successful candidates will be able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a diverse team. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, databases, and spreadsheets is a plus.
About CFOSCFOS is one of the most geographically diverse academic units main office is located in Fairbanks, with additional facilities in Anchorage, Seward (Seward Marine Center), Kasitsna Bay (NOAA-UAF Kasitsna Bay Laboratory), and Juneau (Lena Point Fisheries Facility).
Minimum Qualifications- Must be enrolled as a UA student in at least 6 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0, or be a newly enrolled student.
- Depending on the position, you may need to perform moderately strenuous physical activity such as lifting boxes or participating in fieldwork.
Positions are located on the Troth Yeddha' Campus (Fairbanks) and Lena Point Fisheries Facility (Juneau). Positions are part-time (additional hours may be available during the summer or semester breaks). New hires will be placed on the Undergraduate Student Pay Scale based on education and experience. This recruitment is open to undergraduate students only.
