Are you passionate about helping students thrive in their first year of college? We're looking for a First‑Year Honors Advising Specialist dedicated to supporting student success and guiding first‑year students as they navigate their academic journeys. In this role, you’ll provide personalized academic assistance and mentorship, empowering Honors College students to explore their educational opportunities, build community, and achieve their professional goals.
By sharing your expertise in academic advising, student development, and decision‑making strategies, you'll play a key role in boosting student retention and success.
To thrive in this role, the ideal candidate brings strong expertise in student development, advising best practices, and university curricula to support high‑achieving, high‑curiosity students. They demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, multicultural awareness, and the ability to navigate conflict with professionalism and care. Clear communication, critical thinking, and problem‑solving are essential, along with enthusiasm for interdisciplinary learning experiences such as research, field‑based intensives, leadership opportunities, and community engagement.
The role requires someone who can manage multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail while maintaining a collaborative, student‑focused approach. Proficiency with Apple and Microsoft platforms, Google applications, and a willingness to learn new systems such as EAB Navigate 360, Salesforce, and Banner are also important. Above all, the candidate must uphold integrity, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries in all interactions.

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- May require appropriate or applicable certification.
- Master’s degree preferred.
This is a full‑time, exempt staff position, complete with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
