Overview

Under the supervision of teachers and assistant teachers, the Child Development Aide assists by supporting the developmental needs of children through daily classroom activities. This position ensures the well-being of children from birth to kindergarten in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.

Pay & Benefits
  • Compensation $20 hourly wage
  • Two Positions Available Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts up to 30 hours per week

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Child Development Assistants and Teachers in implementing age-appropriate activities during playtime, meals, and rest periods to promote physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Support the whole child and help children learn to live, play, and work cooperatively.
  • Perform housekeeping to maintain a caring, healthy, safe, and clean environment for children’s learning.
  • Respond appropriately to children’s needs, such as helping with daily routines, feeding, diapering, and toileting.
  • Communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with families and coworkers to enhance the child’s development and meet family needs.
  • Maintain mandatory continuing education and training according to State of Alaska Child Care Licensing requirements and The Learning Center (TLC).
  • Perform all functions per FHP and the State of Alaska Child Care Program Office (CCPO) laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Must accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holidays, and weekend work assignments.

  • Current enrollment in a Childhood Development Program.
  • Experience with child development and learning of children birth through kindergarten; family and community relationships; observing, documenting, and assessing young children; teaching and learning; and professional practices or development.
