Chemical Engineer, Research Scientist
Job Title: Chemist
Location: Paramus, New Jersey
Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $63000 - $83000 annually
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
Hours: 8 AM-5 PM M-F
Responsibilities- Understand materials and technologies and develop solutions to demonstrate the benefits and applications of these materials and technologies.
- Create raw material applications and formulations as well as consumer end-product applications and formulations.
- Create solutions for sales and customer inquiries through creativity and resourcefulness.
- Participate in training of distributors/customers.
- Understand competitive environments and other raw material technologies and maintain awareness of industry trends.
- Recognize and follow all safety, health, and environmental requirements.
- Design and run experiments of chemical synthesis, formulation, analytical testing, etc.
- Maintain lab operation. This includes maintaining a clean and well‑organized work area, setting up instruments, maintaining lab equipment, ordering chemical and lab supplies, training new lab technicians, etc.
- Write Standard Operation Procedure for synthesis, formulation, and analytical testing.
- Follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) to run experiments, document experimental data, and generate technical reports.
- Provide periodic work updates to the manager.
- Conduct technical presentations at conferences and internal meetings.
- Provide technical support to customers, e.g., answering technical questions and providing lab samples.
- Local travel to customers and trade shows, which may involve domestic flying. International travel may be considered. Travel amounts may fluctuate based on business need but typically won’t exceed 10%.
- Perform other duties as requested by the company and manager.
- Bachelor or advanced degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related scientific field; or equivalent combination of education and on‑the‑job experience.
- Experience in chemical industries.
- Must have knowledge of general chemistry, organic synthesis, formulation, surface chemistry, chemical/physical testing, etc.
- The lab role routinely uses standard lab equipment including: pH meters, Viscometers, Correct. As well as GC, Tensile testing, GPC, IR, etc.
