Position Title:

High School Physics Teacher

Compensation

Base $66,500, Tested Subject $2,000, Experience $200 per year, Advanced Degree-Masters $3,000;
PhD $5,000. Comprehensive Benefits:

Summary

Under the general supervision of the School Director, to develop students' skills and competence in one or more fields of science, including Physics, general science, and elective courses related to STEM education, which develops students' Engineering and Science practices, and problem‑solving, as well as an understanding of the application of science in the solution of practical problems.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. (Masters preferred)
  • New Jersey Certification (CE, CEAS) with subject matter specialization:
    Physics.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of using various technological software and equipment for tasks such as, but not limited to, word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications.
  • Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters.
  • Knowledge of child growth and development, individual differences in ability, personality, and interests, and learning/motivational techniques.
  • Ability to engage in self‑evaluation about performance and professional growth.
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of grade‑specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted during work: parents, students, faculty, etc.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of science subject areas, including general science, earth science, biology, physiology, chemistry, physics, and other related areas (e.g., mathematics).
  • Before employment, the following must be addressed:
  • A criminal history background check is required to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense.
  • Provide evidence that health can adequately fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation under 42 U.S.C. 12101 and by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.2.
  • Pass the state‑required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.3.

Essential Performance Responsibilities The Physics Teacher Will
  • Teaches knowledge and skills in one or more fields of science in accordance with the district curriculum.
  • Promotes critical and creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Understands NGSS and develops lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of science to everyday existence, including scientific research projects, demonstrations, experiments, and laboratory activities.
  • Instructs students in the proper use and care of scientific equipment, chemicals, and plant and animal life.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs;…
