As a Senior Claims Specialist - Environmental, you will play a critical role in handling and resolving AXA XL's claims for the Environmental Pollution team. You will analyze unique coverage issues, proactively collect and organize information, ensure reserve adequacy, mitigate risk exposure, manage litigation, and develop effective resolution strategies. You will work closely with your manager and fellow Claims colleagues to drive files to resolution, interacting and collaborating frequently with the Underwriting team, with the goal of achieving the best possible outcomes for AXA XL and its clients by resolving and settling claims proactively.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

• Handling complex pollution and/or high exposure claims across multiple jurisdictions, analyzing the applicability of coverage to the facts of each claim and setting the case strategy for these claims in partnership with Claims management, as warranted.
• Partnering with internal and external counsel to set and pursue effective, cost-efficient litigation strategies for litigated claims.
• Coordinating and managing communication with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Underwriting, brokers, reinsurers, external vendors, etc.) to ensure the highest level of customer service. Participation in new account and renewal meetings may be required.
• Consulting with Claims management on Large Losses and ensuring all steps are taken to achieve the best outcome.
• Documenting claim activity in our claim system in accordance with Global Claim Handling Principles, including establishment and maintenance of appropriate reserves.
• Producing internal reporting and ensuring that reserves are set according to best practices guidelines; identifying, monitoring and reporting on emerging liability and coverage trends to enable data-driven success.

You will report to the Claims Manager– Environmental Pollution, Americas Region.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

• Education:
  
  Bachelor's degree required;
  Juris Doctor (JD) preferred
• Claims Technical Expertise:
  Broad experience in handling and managing complex Pollution Sites, Contractor’s Professional and Pollution Liability, or Construction-related claims, including experience analyzing coverage and writing coverage position letters.
• Effective communication:
  Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and negotiation skills. Able to communicate and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at various levels of sophistication.
• Collaborative approach:
  Develop productive working relationships with insureds, brokers, claim handlers, Underwriters and legal counsel. Seek input from others as needed to achieve the best result possible. Capable of working and collaborating in a hybrid work environment.

• Possession of state adjuster licenses is preferred. Insurance designation(s) (CPCU, AIC, ARM, SCLA) preferred.
