POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
CFS is seeking an enthusiastic individual to teach Spanish beginning in August of 2026. This is a full-time faculty position in the Modern Language Department and requires fluency in Spanish and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in language or a related area of study, and at least five years of teaching experience. A master’s degree is preferred. All CFS faculty share responsibilities in the academic, athletic, residential, and co-curricular life of the school.
Full-time faculty teach four class sections, advise, and have evening affiliate duties in the dormitories. Individuals who will enhance our community’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are especially encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will join a collaborative Modern Language Department; share the joy of teaching in an all-male, culturally diverse, independent college preparatory boarding and day school; and have an understanding and sensitivity to DEI matters as well as possess cross-cultural competency skills.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
All candidates must be able to nurture the development of students’ critical thinking and analytic skills, while also helping them to respond creatively to the world around them. In our all-boys setting, we seek educators who understand how to channel boys’ energy and individuality into meaningful learning, build trusting relationships, create structured yet dynamic learning environments, and support boys as they grow into ethical, confident young men.
The successful candidate will have a degree in language or related field and possess broad knowledge of and experience with teaching language. Specific responsibilities include teaching levels one through four in Spanish. The successful candidate will be a fluent Spanish teacher, hold a degree in Spanish or related field and possess broad knowledge of and experience with High School Modern Language curriculum.
All candidates should be adept in the integration of technology in instruction. As Church Farm School continues to advance its 21st-century teaching and learning initiatives, the school seeks candidates who will help strengthen the integration of Modern Language and global responsibility, preparing students to think critically, communicate compellingly, and engage as responsible global citizens. All candidates must be able to nurture the development of students’ aural and oral linguistic skills in the target language, while also helping them to respond creatively to the world around them.
Fluency in other languages, particularly French, is a plus.
Additional responsibilities include attending faculty meetings and professional development opportunities and serving as an advisor to a group of students and as an affiliate in one of the dormitories. Affiliate duty consists of supporting our dorms and/or evening programming once a week during evening study hours and assisting in weekend activities six to eight times during the school year.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a member of the Academic Faculty, the Spanish Instructor will:
- Develop lesson plans/units based on the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) proficiency guidelines.
- Demonstrate full knowledge of language acquisition theories necessary for teaching 90%+ in Spanish.
