POSITION

DESCRIPTION:

CFS is seeking an enthusiastic individual to serve as a full-time faculty member in the Humanities Department beginning in August of 2026 to teach upper-level, literature-based classes. This is a full-time faculty position and requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in English Literature, American Studies or a related area of study, and at least five years of teaching experience. A master’s degree is preferred.

All CFS faculty share responsibilities in the academic, athletic, residential, and co-curricular life of the school. Full-time faculty teach four class sections, advise, and have evening affiliate duties in the dormitories. Individuals who will enhance our community’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are especially encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate will join a collaborative Humanities department; share the joy of teaching in an all-male, culturally diverse, independent college preparatory boarding and day school; and have an understanding and sensitivity to DEI matters as well as possess cross-cultural competency skills.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

All candidates must be able to nurture the development of students’ critical thinking and analytic skills, while also helping them to respond creatively to the world around them. In our all-boys setting, we seek educators who understand how to channel boys’ energy and individuality into meaningful learning, teachers who can build trusting relationships, create structured yet dynamic learning environments, and support boys as they grow into ethical, confident young men.

The successful candidate will have a degree in English literature or American Studies and possess broad knowledge of and experience with high school humanities-based curricula. All candidates should be adept in the integration of technology in instruction. As Church Farm School continues to advance its 21st-century teaching and learning initiatives, the school seeks candidates who will help strengthen the integration of Humanities and global responsibility, preparing students to think critically, communicate compellingly, and engage as responsible global citizens.

Additional responsibilities include attending faculty meetings and professional development opportunities and serving as an advisor to a group of students and as an affiliate in one of the dormitories. Affiliate duty consists of supporting our dorms and/or evening programming once a week during evening study hours and assisting in weekend activities six to eight times during the school year.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Employ a diverse range of instructional strategies, including discussion-based learning, project-based learning, and differentiated instruction, to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Develop lessons that integrate reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills in meaningful ways aligned with departmental goals.
  • Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement, respect, and academic risk-taking.
  • Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior and academic integrity.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with using technology in the delivery of curriculum and instruction.
