Clark Wood is working with an established and growing independent firm of accountants based in Exmouth, serving a varied portfolio of owner‑managed businesses and SMEs across Devon and the South West. Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to take responsibility for managing a portfolio of OMB and SME clients, overseeing accounts preparation and compliance, and supporting junior team members.

This is a key client‑facing role with clear progression opportunities.

• Managing a portfolio of OMB and SME clients across a range of sectors
• Preparation and review of statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
• Review of management accounts and VAT returns
• Corporation tax compliance and liaison with tax colleagues where required
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients, providing day‑to‑day advice and support
• Planning and managing workflow to meet deadlines
• Reviewing work of junior staff and providing training and mentoring
• Assisting partners with client meetings and business development where appropriate

• ACA / ACCA qualified
• Strong background in practice, ideally within an independent or regional firm
• Experience managing a varied SME/OMB client portfolio
