We are recruiting an Assistant Manager – Offsite Services to lead and streamline our home‑based pet operations in Devon. The role is based onsite at our Exeter centre and does not offer hybrid working arrangements.

Contract: Permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: £25,787 – £27,047 per annum

• Oversee the smooth running of daily activities in our home‑based pet operations, acting as the subject matter expert in practical animal handling and assessment.
• Prepare pets for adoption as quickly and effectively as possible, ensuring timely pet assessments, behaviour management, and training.
• Provide full support to foster carers and maintain high standards of animal care and national case‑management processes.
• Achieve pet‑related targets and ensure the team of Pet Welfare Assistants and Foster Coordinators maintains the highest standards of animal care.
• Motivate and manage the team, enabling professional development and a compassionate workplace.
• Work 37.5 hours per week, including 1 in 3 weekends.

• Significant experience in managing a team.
• Experience delivering high‑level customer service in a fast‑paced environment.
• Subject‑matter expertise in pet welfare and handling domestic animals.
• High standard of verbal and written communication.
• Current full driving licence.
• Ability to demonstrate, understand and apply Blue Cross values.

• Performance management and improvement experience.
• Experience working with volunteers.
• Understanding of safeguarding issues.
