Job Description & How to Apply Below

In this position, you will work closely with the founder and technical team, becoming hands‑on with our existing design work from the outset. The immediate focus will be on understanding our current architecture, client context, and delivery approach, with the near‑term goal of supporting a new project that extends an established system. You will contribute directly to shaping new functionality within that framework as you build familiarity and confidence.

As your understanding of our systems and clients deepens, you will take on a more central role in leading requirement translation and shaping solution design. Over time, responsibility for the software design function will increasingly sit with you, supported by the wider team.

Our projects primarily involve data‑driven business systems used internally by our customers to support their day‑to‑day operations. The emphasis is on clarity, efficiency, and practical delivery. Designs must support real operational use cases and balance usability with technical feasibility and delivery constraints.

The role spans both business analysis and design. Early phases may lean more heavily toward solution and interface design to support active delivery, but structured requirement analysis and discovery are essential throughout.

This is a hands‑on role within a small team, suited to someone comfortable operating pragmatically and contributing to the steady development of our design capability as the business grows.

About the Company

Key Responsibilities
  • Play a key role in the design and delivery of a new project extending an existing system architecture, building a strong understanding of current platforms, constraints, and client context.
  • Analyse and structure business and stakeholder needs into clearly defined requirements, documented scope, and fit‑for‑purpose artefacts that provide a solid foundation for development.
  • Present structured options, trade‑offs, and recommendations to support informed decision‑making, maintaining traceability from business needs through to delivered outcomes.
  • Design practical, coherent workflows and interfaces that operate effectively within existing architectural principles and technical constraints.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, developers, and QA to maintain shared understanding from initial exploration through to implementation, ensuring alignment across disciplines.
  • Support internal testing, review, and assurance activities, ensuring delivered features align with agreed requirements and intended business outcomes.
  • Over time, take increasing responsibility for structured exploration of business and user requirements, helping to formalise how problems are defined and solutions are shaped.

  • Experience using modern UX and design tools to create and iterate on workflows, wireframes, and prototypes (e.g. Figma, Moqups, or similar).
  • Experience with collaboration and delivery tooling (e.g. Jira, Confluence or equivalent platforms).
  • Experience working across software development life cycles.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences.
  • Relevant professional or role‑specific certifications.
  • Experience working on bespoke or data‑driven systems used within customer operational environments.
