Exeter | Hybrid | Permanent | Up to £45,000 per annum + Benefits

Our client are seeking an experienced IT Network Security Engineer to design, secure, and maintain resilient network and cyber security services across a modern, multi-site environment. This role is key to protecting critical systems and ensuring secure, reliable IT operations.

• Design, manage, and secure LAN/WAN/VPN, Firewall, WiFi, and network communications.
• Monitor and improve network security posture, performance, and threat landscape.
• Administer Firewalls, Routers, Switches, DMZs, Servers, and IP Addressing (DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
• Manage SSL certificates and external web security.
• Support GDPR and NIS2 compliance and assist with security incident response.
• Deliver penetration testing, implement improvements, and support business continuity planning.
• Collaborate with SOC and IT teams to resolve vulnerabilities and critical threats.
• Maintain network documentation, asset records, and provide service updates.

• 5+ years' experience in an IT security or network security role.
• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN/VLANs, VPNs, TCP/IP, and enterprise WiFi.
• Hands-on Firewall experience (Fortigate preferred).
• Experience in Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, and Linux environments.
• Knowledge of cyber security standards and best practices (eg ISO 27001).
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

• CCNA/CCNP or equivalent certification.
• Experience with Dell networking, VMware/ESXi, GNS3, and Microsoft 365.
• Knowledge of MDM, Crowd Strike, and Cortex XDR.
