Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/Therapist

Would you like to be part of a small psychology inpatient team supporting people struggling with Eating Disorders? You will be working alongside a great wider MDT who are all passionate, caring and work collaboratively.

We are looking for a psychologist or psychological therapist who can offer compassionate and trauma informed interventions for our patients and their families as well as supporting the team through training and supervision.

This full time role requires someone comfortable with inpatient work which can be fast paced and challenging yet also incredibly rewarding. As a psychology team we need to be both flexible, creative, containing and nurturing and to enable this there are plenty of opportunities for development, training and lots of support.

We welcome applications from final year Trainees who will be qualified this year and as such would not start in post until they meet the band 7 criteria through completing their qualification.

Please note face to face interview date is Tuesday 17th March.

The Haldon is a 10 bedded tier 4 Specialist Inpatient Eating Disorder Unit (SEDU) in Exeter which supports patients from across the South West. The Haldon is part of the wider eating disorder pathway including the Eating Disorder Outreach Team (EDOT) and Community Eating Disorder Services across the south west.

Job Description is subject to review from banding review panel.

Main duties of the job

The role is about taking a lead on the therapeutic programme and ensuring we are a formulation based service. This requires ensuring there is a balance between meaningful groups by the MDT and individual input as well as supporting team formulations. We offer individual formulation based interventions which require integrating models for the patients' needs. A significant amount of the individual work is trauma based, sometimes focused on stabilisation and sometimes about processing the trauma and many of our patients have neurodiversity needs.

We work with the person's wider system and offer family sessions as well as psychoeducation for families. This role will involve supervision of Assistant Psychologists and Trainees were appropriate as well as supervising and training for the wider MDT and service development.
