We are seeking a highly motivated and professional Facilities Supervisor to join our Estates and Facilities team based in Dawlish. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare environments.

The Facilities Supervisor is a very valuable position which will increase the quality of service in Cleaning, Food Safety, Waste Management and Pest Control
. It is a dynamic role with a driven purpose of excellence.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supervising facilities services, ideally within healthcare or a similar regulated environment.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of cleaning standards, food hygiene regulations, waste management, and pest control practices.
  • Is highly organised, proactive, and solution-focused.
  • Has excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Is confident in conducting audits and maintaining compliance documentation.
  • Is committed to delivering excellence and continuous service improvement.

You will play a key role in ensuring that our facilities services consistently meet NHS standards, statutory requirements and Trust policies, supporting both patient care and staff wellbeing.

Main duties of the job
  • Supervise and support facilities staff across cleaning, catering, waste, and pest control services.

Monitor and improve standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with NHS and CQC requirements.

Ensure food safety compliance, including monitoring HACCP procedures and maintaining accurate documentation.

Oversee waste segregation, storage and disposal in accordance with environmental and health regulations.

Coordinate pest control measures and preventative maintenance programmes.

Conduct audits, inspections and quality assurance checks.

Support recruitment, training and performance management of facilities staff.

Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement.

Maintain strong communication with clinical teams and management to ensure seamless service delivery.

Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, including COSHH regulations and the completion, review and implementation of risk assessments to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day supervision of Facilities Services and Facilities Assistants at Langdon and South Devon (Torbay) Hospitals. The post holder will be responsible for the coordination of facilities services on the allocated sites, providing support to the Facilities Team Leaders and ensuring a clean, safe, comfortable and welcoming environment.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that a high quality, customer focused and safe cleaning & food service is provided to the Trust and external customers.

Person Specification Experience
  • Significant experience of working in a facilities environment, with particular knowledge and understanding of healthcare domestic management or the ability to demonstrate skills to that level of experience
  • Experience of providing high quality effective services within resource limits
  • Providing supervision, effective leadership and managing staff
  • Previous experience of working in a Healthcare or Social Care setting
  • Driving licence
Qualifications
  • Willing to work towards Level 3 Leadership and Management
  • Health & Safety Training (IOSH)
  • First Aid at Work
