Role Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive, knowledgeable and leadership focused individual who will organise, deliver and review programmes to support Occupational therapy staff as they transition into registered role, into new clinical settings and into our organisation.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Occupational therapist who is interested in supporting our registered and unregistered workforce to develop and settle into life at the Royal Devon University healthcare trust.

This post is a split role working 3 days as the department CPF for OT and the other 2 days as a Team lead in Renal & Cancer services. The role will ensure educational support for these staff, for their development within the clinical environment. Supporting them to deliver high quality evidence-based care within the acute hospital. Clinical caseloads will vary but require expert assessment, treatment and advice and will include complex discharge planning for patients with both acute and chronic long-term conditions.

In addition, they will provide advice, direction and support to other wards as necessary across the hospital.

This person will be a highly visible role model, working alongside staff in practice, contributing to an environment where practice-based learning is implemented, evaluated, and shared.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate how they remain abreast of the developments in practice and implement/lead changes within the Occupational therapy department.

Clinical Practice Facilitator role:

The post holder will provide clinical support and supervision to a variety of student and staff groups including undergraduates, apprentices, post graduate studies, and the training of the wider Occupational therapy teams across all specialities. They will be responsible for supporting the Head of Occupational therapy in developing and promoting an effective learning environment. Supporting the link Occupational therapists in managing the student placement, identifying learning needs and facilitating opportunities to meet these.

They are responsible for the student/learners’ experience in the department and ensuring that all members of the Occupational therapy teams are educated on student/learners’ placement requirements The post holder will act as a liaison between staff and the students/learners and between the department and education providers and promote Occupational Therapy at external education events as required. The post holder will develop and facilitate education sessions internally supporting continued professional development of all staff.

The post holder will also be expected to play a proactive role in quality and service improvement and, assist in the auditing of standards of essential learning delivery within Occupational therapy.

Team lead Role Renal & Cancer services:

The post-holder is responsible for providing leadership and clinical expertise to patients based on the Renal and cancer services wards. The post holder will be required to provide cover across a range of the medical wards including renal and oncology areas. Caseloads will vary but require expert assessment, treatment and advice and will include complex discharge planning for patients with both acute and chronic long-term conditions.

In addition, they will provide advice, direction and support to other wards as necessary within the medical directorate.

The post-holder will be responsible for teaching and leadership within this general medical and Oncology team working alongside the physiotherapy Team Leads and Clinical Lead and will support and deputise in their absence. The post-holder will be responsible for the management and supervision of the occupational therapists across and will ensure appropriate service provision on a daily basis, liaising with the Clinical Leads at all times.
