Health and Safety officer

Overview

We are looking to appoint two experienced Health and Safety Officers to join our busy team supporting the Council's operational services. While the roles are based in Exeter, you will be required to travel to sites across the wider area.

• Lead on audits, and review and implement a range of health and safety policies and guidance.
• Have designated areas of specialism and provide clear, informed advice by interpreting relevant legislation and best practice.
• Design and deliver toolbox talks and in-house training for frontline staff.

• Applicants must hold, or be working towards, the NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent), with strong post-qualification experience.
• A thorough understanding of current health and safety legislation and experience undertaking detailed accident investigations are essential.
• You should be an excellent communicator, able to engage confidently with staff at all levels, including senior managers.
• Experience of managing premises-related health and safety issues—such as asbestos and legionella—across multi-site organisations is desirable.
• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and specialist health and safety software is desirable.
