Minor Illness Clinician (Nurse Practitioner / Paramedic / Pharmacist)
Are you an experienced Walk In Centre Practitioner / Minor Illness Practitioner looking to join a forward thinking and supportive GP Team?
We are recruiting another Clinician (Nurse, Paramedic or Pharmacist) to join our team on a Friday to work as part of our Duty Team, alongside a GP, Paramedic and other members of the team.
Hours/days: Friday
Salary: This post will be Band 6 / Band 7 (£19.78 - £24.65/hr), depending on experience.
Main duties of the jobDuties of the Minor Illness Clinician will include:
- Assessing and deciding the treatment plan for acute minor illness presentations such as
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Respiratory tract infections (URTI/LRTI)
- Sore throats
- Ear symptoms
- Develop, implement and embed health promotion and well-being programmes
- Provide a triage service, actively managing or referring patients or treating patients within own scope of practice
- Provide routine nursing care to patients as required in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF
- Provide wound care (ulcer /Doppler etc.) to patients
- Request pathology services as necessary, processing and interpreting results as required
- Refer patients directly to other services as appropriate
- Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with extant legislation
- Ensure read codes are used effectively
- Prioritise health issues and intervene appropriately
- Support the team in dealing with clinical emergencies
Topsham Surgery is a friendly and forward thinking practice.
We are made up of 2 sites, one in Topsham and a branch site at Countess Wear.
The 2 sites are spacious with a variety of consulting and administration rooms with a pharmacy based at the Glasshouse site.
We care for over 11,900 patients across a large practice boundary from Middlemoor and St Leonards to Lympstone in the South and Aylesbeare in the East.
Qualifications- Registered Paramedic or Nurse or Pharmacist
- Minor illness / injury qualification or equivalent experience
- Experience of assessing and treating minor illness / injury
- Experience of working autonomously
- Experience of working in either a GP Practice, Walk In Centre or Minor Injury Unit setting
