Senior Electrical Engineer
Overview

Mott Mac Donald Bentley is a fully integrated design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott Mac Donald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley to deliver award‑winning projects across the UK. In November 2023 the joint venture secured its first ever framework with South West Water, a major supplier of water and wastewater services to 1.8 million customers throughout Cornwall, Devon, the Isles of Scilly and parts of Dorset and Somerset.
The multi‑million‑pound AMP8 contract runs for five years to 2029, with a potential further five‑year extension, and will bring MMB’s track record of innovative project delivery to the south‑west of England for the very first time.
- Prepare and review electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment on client sites, covering Motor Control Centres, LV distribution systems, cabling, control philosophies, instrumentation, industrial networks, PLCs and SCADA. Systems will include both current technology and legacy installations.
- Produce and review technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
- Supervise and mentor graduates and engineers, assisting their development of knowledge and skills.
- Understand, apply and contribute to design standards, maintaining good knowledge of Client and WIMES standards.
- Positively engage with clients, building relationships and supporting them to achieve their aims.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution (e.g., IET) or equivalent experience.
- Desirable: water or wastewater treatment experience.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites within your operational region.

Mott Mac Donald Bentley is a joint‑venture business established in 1999 between civil engineering contractor JN Bentley and global management consultancy Mott Mac Donald. The role is employed by Mott Mac Donald but involves working across the joint‑venture business, with both Mott Mac Donald and JN Bentley colleagues.
