Overview
JTR are a growing Exeter-based engineering business delivering design and build projects to the food manufacturing and other industries, largely across the South West. Site Lead – Mechanical WorksA senior, site-based role responsible for leading technical teams and performing hands-on mechanical installations.
Being the primary link between project management, teams on-site and the customer, the Site Lead is pivotal to ensure the smooth, productive execution of JTR’s project activity.
Projects are frequently although not exclusively within the food manufacturing sector.
Functions cover all mechanical works arising including but not exhaustively, Refrigeration, HVAC, Plumbing, Fabric, Groundworks and general fitting tasks, often through Sub-Contractors
Core Responsibilities- On-Site Supervision: Leading a small team of Technicians, delegating daily tasks, and providing hands-on mentoring. Overseeing sub-contractors, their quality and delivery
- Mechanical Execution: Installing machinery such as refrigeration equipment, pumps, pipework, heating & ventilation systems. Installing small groundworks activities
- Planning: Participation in meetings to plan labour distribution as part of the wider project delivery team
- Safety Leadership: Awareness and enforcement of RAMS on-site and ensuring all work adheres to latest HSE regulations
- Technical Interpretation: Reading and interpreting technical drawings and P&’s to ensure installations meet exact specifications.
- Project Liaison: Managing client relationships on-site, reporting progress to line managers, and resolving technical difficulties as they arise.
- Project Completion: In tandem with Project Manager, collate all technical documentation associated with installed equipment to enable future servicing/breakdown management of customer assets and project sign off
- Certifications:
- CSCS Card: Required for site access
- SSSTS or SMSTS
. Desirable - Specialist Tickets: IPAF (powered access), Working at Heights awareness, FGAS
- Technical Training: A recognized Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant apprenticeship is desirable
- CDM Regulations: Experience of and/or training in Construction, Design Management Regulations desirable
- Drivers License: A full UK clean driving license is essential, as the role typically requires regional or national travel
- First Aid: First responder or First Aid at Work desirable
- Ability to read & interpret technical drawings & P&’s
- Good written and verbal communication skills
For the role of Site Lead, JTR offer a salary of £50,000 with overtime and company vehicle.
