Axcis Education are seeking a full-time specialist teaching assistant to work at a special school in Exeter. The successful candidate will be assisting the Teacher as well as supporting pupils with special educational needs throughout the school day. As a SEND teaching assistant you will be responsible for the social, emotional, educational and general wellbeing of the children and must thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities- Support the class teacher with lesson resourcing.
- Assist children in class with their educational understanding.
- Assist children in class with their social and emotional needs.
- Work in sensory rooms, outdoor learning and messy play activities.
- Manage behaviour and de‑escalate challenging situations.
- Safeguard all children in your care.
- Move across the school to various lessons, and assist with break and lunch duties.
- Cover other SEND teaching assistants who may be off.
- Can build relationships with children.
- Resilient and able to set clear boundaries.
- Active, positive with a can‑do attitude.
- Willingness to support the team across the school.
- Has experience in SEND.
- Located in Exeter – bus routes, train routes and parking accessible.
- Working Monday to Friday 8:30–3:30, no weekend work.
- Temporary contract with potential of a permanent contract.
- Salary £90 per day, 6.5‑hour days.
- Online training available to build experience on CV.
