Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen whereby we are looking to appoint a dedicated and professional SEND Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. You will work as part of the Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) team to support those children with specific needs. You will need to be able to demonstrate an excellent level of understanding of children will specific needs (both mental and physical) and how they can be best supported to ensure they thrive in mainstream education.
You will be working within a busy and dynamic teaching environment and will need to have a passion and commitment to wanting our young children to develop a life‑long love of learning by being a positive and supportive role model.
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for children with complex and specific needs, including physical care and educational support.
- Administer physiotherapy, personal hygiene, toileting, feeding, drinking and, where required, the administration of medicines or injections.
- Safely move children from their wheelchair and handle them with care according to training.
- Assist teaching staff in preparing the learning environment, liaising with parents, maintaining pupil records, and carrying out a range of administrative tasks.
- Use digital technologies and software to support the delivery of different intervention programmes.
- Support individual children to access the curriculum, adapt the curriculum with the SENDCo, teach reading, participate in PE, games sessions, school trips, residentials and provide mentoring and tutoring.
- Lead playtime activities and support the family dining service where older children serve young children each lunch time.
Good experience of working with children and relevant qualifications are required.
What we offerSalary of £23,866 FTE | Actual Salary of £16,922 (40 weeks Hours are 9am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday, 40 weeks per year (Term time + 10 days).
