Provide 24x7 monitoring and control of the electric transmission and distribution systems for all Unitil Electric Distribution Operating Companies (DOC’s); coordinate outage management response and reporting for all electric DOC’s; perform tasks associated with regulatory compliance and reporting; and coordinate electric system switching and tagging operations. This position falls under the Department of Transportation drug testing requirements.
Principal Accountabilities End Results 60% - Perform Monitoring and Control of Electric Systems and Emergency Response- Provide coverage of Company phones to ensure response to customer and municipal first responder emergency calls.
- Monitor the electric system SCADA including interpretation and response to abnormal system conditions and alarms and ensure appropriate internal notification of same.
- Monitor OMS and other internal Company systems and effectively dispatch field crews to respond to outages, emergency dig safe calls, and other emergency municipal calls.
- Coordinate switching and tagging operations and provide effective internal communication and documentation of these activities.
- Make timely notifications to internal and external parties for designated system events.
- Maintain a working knowledge of operating procedures, current electric system conditions, and operating status of Company lines and equipment.
- Interact and work closely with Operations management and field personnel.
- Perform tasks required for compliance with MDPU and NH PUC outage notification requirements.
- Provide effective response and internal notification of ISO-NE operating procedures.
- Effectively interface and communicate with company personnel, municipal and regulatory representatives, customers, and contractors on a regular basis.
- Effective notification of systems conditions that may arise through e-mail, paging and telephone to ensure that appropriate personnel are aware and prepared to respond or act as necessary.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of outage data in Outage Management System.
- Issue internal reliability reporting and ad hoc reports as necessary.
- Issue internal Load PF reporting.
- Assist with other internal and external regulatory reporting.
- For Electric Distribution Dispatcher III, Associate Degree in Electric Engineering or Engineering Technology related educational background.
- For Electric Distribution Dispatcher II:
Associate Degree in Electric Engineering or Engineering Technology related educational background + 1-3 years of work experience. - For Electric Distribution Dispatcher I:
Associate Degree in Electric Engineering or Engineering Technology related educational background + 3-6 years of work experience. - Utility experience preferred.
- Requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail, working knowledge of personal computers and software including: word processing, spreadsheet, database, OMS (outage management systems) SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and business applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Must achieve certification to complete Switching and Tagging on Unitil Distribution Systems within 6 months.
- Be available to work varying rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must be available to work beyond normal scheduled shifts during major weather events and other system emergencies and must reside within a specific geographic area in accordance with labor agreement.
- Candidates are required to pass a drug test on entry and subsequent random drug testing.
