Repairer-Plumbing Shop

Position Overview

Repairer‑Plumbing Shop role at Inside Higher Ed. Department of Facilities and Administrative Services provides broad operational services. This position resides within the Plumbing Shop in the Department of Facilities Operations.

• Perform varied plumbing repair work: installation, repair, adjustment, maintenance of plumbing and steam fitting fixtures, fittings, and systems.
• Assist with preventive maintenance for all plumbing related systems and equipment, lubricate parts, clean and adjust components.
• Make emergency plumbing repairs and report deficiencies to supervisor.
• Receive work orders from supervisor, maintain accurate records of equipment used, work done and time spent.
• Maintain and repair water, drainage, waste, and gas lines; toilets, wash basins, showers, bath tubs, urinals; appliances and machinery; install, maintain, and test pumps.
• Obtain, store, safeguard, and properly use equipment, materials, supplies, and tools; keep records of work done.
• Maintain all tools, equipment and motor vehicles; schedule and perform maintenance and cleans motor vehicles as required.

• High School Diploma or equivalent; one year experience in repair of plumbing fixtures, systems and equipment.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing issued by state of residence.
• Ability to inspect, install, repair all types of plumbing and steam fitting equipment and/or systems, including fittings, fixtures, appliances and machinery.
• Works with prioritized work orders, records remediation, informs supervisor when work orders are complete.
• Effective communication with supervisor, colleagues and clients.
• Works independently under general supervision in a busy, fast‑paced environment, including outdoors in inclement weather.
• Complies with college occupational, health safety, and security and environmental regulations and procedures; attends all safety training classes.
