Security Officer – Campus Police for Inside Higher Ed (TCNJ)
Full-time, 40 hours per week. Internal salary range: $44,323.02 – $64,052.12;
External salary range: $44,323.02 – $50,436.97.
The Office of Campus Police Services missions to provide a safe and secure campus. The department comprises an Operations and an Administrative Office.
- The Operations Section includes sworn police officers, security officers, and public safety telecommunicators. Services include call response, crime and complaint reporting, student and staff escorts, and many other duties.
- The Administrative Section supports the department with record keeping, attorney discovery, and processing report requests.
Patrol an assigned area of offices, buildings, and grounds, including parking areas. Prevent unauthorized entry, conduct vehicle checks, and take required reports. Respond to emergencies, summon police or fire as needed, assist police with maintaining order, direct traffic, and maintain campus safety.
Responsibilities- Protect buildings, contents, and occupants from hazards.
- Provide escorts for students, faculty, and staff as requested.
- Direct traffic on and around the campus; regulate and control pedestrian and vehicular traffic at public intersections.
- Assist police in maintaining campus order.
- Respond to emergencies, summon police or fire department, and assist in building evacuations.
- Take action regarding suspicious persons and conditions, and report significant events.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good standing New Jersey driver’s license.
- Pass a pre-employment physical.
- Ability to sit/stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy objects.
- Availability for off‑hours, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Successful completion of a background check, reference checks, and Form I-9 verification.
Residency RequirementNew public employees must obtain New Jersey residency within one year of employment.
