The Jefferson County Rural Library District is seeking a forward-thinking, detail-oriented professional to lead our Collection Development & Discovery Services. This management-level position oversees acquisitions, cataloging, and our Polaris integrated library system (ILS), ensuring that library resources are current, discoverable, and responsive to community needs.
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical and analytical skills—especially in SQL (Structured Query Language), used to generate custom reports and analyze data from the library’s ILS—with a passion for leadership, collaboration, and public service. The Head of Collection Development & Discovery Services supervises technical services staff, manages vendor relationships, and works closely with consortium partners to improve system workflows and resource accessibility.
Qualifications- MLIS from an ALA‑accredited program (or equivalent advanced training/experience)
- 5 years of progressively responsible library experience, including 2 years in supervision or management
- Experience with Polaris or another SQL‑based ILS strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and data‑informed decision‑making skills
