Classification SummaryThe full‑time faculty at Jefferson College generally have a work week of 35‑40 hours, of which 15 hours are scheduled for instruction and 10 hours for office hours. Faculty work activities exceed the scheduled hours and may be performed on and off campus. A flexible five‑day work week is expected. Adjustment to the five‑day week for unusual schedules requires written approval from the President.
This is a 12‑month faculty position. This position is grant‑funded by the ABA2 grant through 2028. The additional revenue generated by the program’s expansion is anticipated to provide the necessary funding to sustain it beyond 2028.
The ABA2 grant aims to lead the implementation of vital apprenticeship programs that strengthen the local workforce and provide students with hands‑on experience in high‑demand fields. Jefferson College will coordinate efforts among a consortium of five Missouri colleges to deliver comprehensive training and real‑world experience to students, preparing them for successful careers while addressing the workforce needs in the region. Minimum Education and/or Training and ExperienceBSN required.
Preferred Education and/or Training and ExperienceMSN preferred. Preference is given to candidates with teaching experience and a breadth of clinical experience.
Licensing RequirementsCurrent unencumbered Missouri license.
Classification Duties- Be responsible to the Dean, Associate Dean, and/or instructional Program Director.
- Carry out the policies developed by the Board of Trustees as interpreted and executed by the administration.
- Teach classes assigned by the Dean, Associate Dean, and/or instructional Program Director.
- Successfully complete yearly teaching assignment.
- Meet classes at the scheduled time.
- Prepare and file course syllabi and other required documents with the Dean, Associate Dean, and/or instructional Program Director.
- Maintain accurate records of class attendance and grades, and submit them to the Registrar.
- Attend faculty meetings and Commencement.
- Develop a 10‑hour weekly office hour schedule appropriate to the attendance hours of students taught and maintain regular office hours.
- Serve as directed on institutional committees; required to serve on one committee annually.
- Promote student participation in extracurricular activities.
- Be available at appropriate times to advise students.
- Maintain all teacher certification requirements as may be required by the state.
- Continue professional improvement through reading, study, and participation in professional organizations.
- Assist in keeping the public informed of the college’s progress and development.
- Use available test scores and records to become familiar with student capabilities.
- Cooperate with the administration in conducting research.
- Commit time for collegial consultation, outcomes assessment, institutional planning, and institutionally‑sanctioned meetings.
- Assume responsibility for enforcing college rules and regulations related to student conduct.
- Demonstrate teaching performance that documents increasing value to the college through annual performance review.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Vice President of Instruction, Dean, Associate Dean, and/or the instructional Program Director.
- This position will be responsible for our Early Assurance Nursing Pathway for high‑performing high school students. In addition to nursing instruction, the position is required to assist with recruitment events, process improvement, and clinical competencies and apprenticeship compliance. Some travel will be required for off‑site meetings with clinical partners and school counselors.
