Field Service Technician – Collins Aerospace

As a Field Service Technician, you will perform service activities associated with installing, maintaining, and servicing Collins Aerospace interior seating products at aircraft manufacturing facilities or customer sites.

What You Will Do
  • Provide support to customers in solving technical problems incurred in the installation or operation of company products; consult with customers regarding pre‑ and post‑installation problems; review customer equipment interface requirements.
  • Assist in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of technical or business support employees.
  • Travel with other technicians to other locations to support products.
  • Demonstrate behaviors in line with Collins Leadership Behaviors and Values.
  • Familiarize customers with the maintenance and use of their products and drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system/equipment interface problems during installations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, modifications, and field changes to installed equipment as necessary.
  • Support the conduct and performance of equipment/system acceptance testing following installation.
  • Use applicable drawings and tools to troubleshoot problems.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is correct and completed for work carried; keep all systems updated and reflect current status against daily work plan.
  • Assist engineering in determining and solving equipment design problems, evaluating product performance, and conducting field trials.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2‑year post‑high‑school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Works with team members to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
  • Able to resolve basic obstacles experienced.
  • Communicates with Lead Technician, Shift Lead, or Supervisor when work is completed or of any unresolvable obstacles preventing completion and requests additional assignments.
  • Identifies additional work in line with understood priorities when no specific assignments are provided.
  • Can read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Can write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Can effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Can define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Can interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
