Apprentice/In-Training - Metal, Pipe, Paint & Electrician Positions - ESR

Everett Ship Repair (ESR) is a premier ship repair facility located in Everett, Washington. Founded in 2019, ESR offers repair, maintenance, and conversion services for a variety of commercial vessels, with a focus on workboats and passenger vessels.

Our apprenticeship programs in Marine Pipe fitters, Marine Painters, Machinery Assemblers, Production Welders, Ship Fitter/Fabricators, and Electricians provide employment, education, classroom instruction and on‑the‑job training under the guidance of experienced journeymen and technical experts.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for safe work practices and housekeeping procedures.
  • Work as a member of a team demonstrating skills to adapt, interpret and problem solve.
  • Express ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.
Duties upon Admission
  • Regular attendance during the classes and presentations.
  • Demonstrate competence in learning the trade through practical exams and required classwork.
  • Record and track on‑the‑job training (OJT) hours daily.
  • Have a journeyman or above sign off on hours weekly.
  • Turn in a copy of monthly hours tracking form to supervisors.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; work at heights up to 60 ft.; enter confined spaces using a respirator; work in small, angled work spaces.
  • Able to understand and perform basic mathematics.
  • Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
  • Willingness to learn the trade and attend required training.
  • Experience using Safe Work Practices.
  • Ability to attend between 144 and 216 hours of classroom training per year (hours may vary by trade) without wages.
  • Experience working around heavy machinery and equipment and as a team member.
  • Successfully completed a craft‑related technical training program or have equivalent craft work experience.
  • Good communication skills; follow instructions.
  • Personal attributes: interest in the selected trade, commitment to self‑development, quality focus, reliability, integrity.
  • Proof of US person status.
  • Willingness to submit to a drug screen and background check.
  • No felony convictions of theft, deception, drug, or violent crimes.
  • Academic ability to succeed in the program.
  • Motivation to continuously improve knowledge and skills.
