Position DetailsTitle: Nursing Assistant Certified
Schedule: Friday through Tuesday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm
Work Type: Full‑time, Permanent
Hybrid/Telework: Not eligible
Location: Spokane Veterans Home (24/7 facility)
Compensation: Eligible for a "Supplement Basic Shift Premium" of $1.00 per hour for 24/7 facilities until June 29, 2027.
SummaryAs a Nursing Assistant Certified, you will assist in the delivery of nursing and nursing‑related care to vulnerable Veterans. Your role will include supporting daily living activities, monitoring residents, and maintaining a safe care environment.
Duties- Assist residents with positioning, transferring and ambulation; ensure a safe and secure work environment and use preventative infection control methods.
- Respond to call lights, internal and external emergencies, and facility codes.
- Record care, vital signs and observations.
- Assist residents with personal clothing, belongings, bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
- Assist with therapies and treatment under the direction of licensed personnel; perform motion exercises as needed.
- Accurately obtain and record vital signs and other resident data; document intake/output records.
- Perform basic nursing procedures such as applying anti‑embolism stockings, applying creams or lotions, collecting specimens, etc.
- Additional assigned tasks as required.
- Current and valid Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification.
- Current active status on OBRA check.
- Proficiency in the English language.
- High School graduation or GED.
- At least six months of customer service experience in a health care setting or direct patient care.
- Ability to perform data entry, maintain confidentiality, and provide a positive living environment for residents.
- Strong knowledge of infection control procedures, residents’ rights, and record‑keeping.
- Pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two years.
- Comply with annual Tuberculin Screening.
- Must be able to wear respiratory protection and personal protective equipment as required.
- Must lift up to 60 lbs. and reach a minimum of 36″.
- Maintain a valid practical nursing license in Washington.
- Reliable attendance and willingness to work as needed.
- Complete mandatory training and orientation within required time frames.
- Familiarity with DVA policies and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Sign confidentiality statement; hold valid driver's license if travel required.
- Work authorization not requiring sponsorship.
