** About the Role
** In this role you will supervise the technical aspects and daily activities of the Scientific Services Training Team. Responsibilities include direct supervision of Training Specialists in the vivarium; conduct interviews, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work for employees as well as manage their performance; address complaints and resolve problems pertaining to the function of Scientific Services.
* Ensure staff maintains Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
* Creates, reviews, and revises Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) relating to animals, technical procedures, and facility issues.
* Assists with managing workload balancing across Scientific Services to ensure optimal study results.
* Determines the training required of department staff and oversees technical process management to ensure compliance to training requirements.
* Attends and participates in meetings regarding study planning.
* Ensures the staff maintains animals and facilities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
* Ensures staff adherence to study conduct as described in Protocol.
* Ensures documentation of study and facility data in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) regulations to include animal assignment, anesthesia, euthanasia and necropsy records; treatment sheets and study events summaries. Ensure adherence to Protocols including proper and timely dosing, treatments, surgery schedule, necropsy schedule, etc. + Compiles research materials including protocols, schedules for projects, etc. + Assigns and oversees duties of personnel necessary to complete daily schedules.
+ Follows up on reports regarding clinical issues with animals, data collection or equipment problems and resolve when possible. + Provides management with feedback and answers to questions and concerns regarding studies and technical needs. + Ensures Scientific Services work activities are aligned with department goals and objectives.
** What You’ll Need to Succeed
*** Bachelor's degree in a scientific field
* Minimum 3 years working in a research, CRO (contract research organization, preferred) environment including Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) experience
* Experience with multiple animal species including but not limited to NHPs, rodents and canines.
* Minimum 2 years experience training employees
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, software manuals, study documents, and procedure manuals; the ability to write routine reports and correspondence; and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
* Ability to understand and utilize appropriate mathematical concepts for calculating and interpreting scientific data.
* Continual GLP training and training on applicable procedures and SOPs within the department.
* LATG certification preferred
