Position: Child Development Center Director with CYP Oversight

Overview

The purpose of the Child Development Center (CDC) Director with Oversight position is twofold: (1) to administer a developmentally appropriate child development program for children of eligible patrons; and (2) oversee all installation Child and Youth Programs (CYPs). Administration includes the direction and operation of a medium CDC (101-199 children).

Responsibilities
  • Program Management:
    Applies professional knowledge of child development to supervise the CDC s developmental programming; ensures a developmentally appropriate program that promotes social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth for children in the served age groups; provides program oversight and accountability for staff performance and child safety in accordance with DoD, DoN, and local policies; recommends modification of program goals and interprets DoN policies;

    conducts surveys and needs assessments; collects and maintains statistical data for planning and reporting; liaises with local institutions and community organizations; interacts professionally with staff, parents, volunteers and installation personnel; and participates in issue resolution with parents, volunteers and staff.
  • Budgeting and Financial Management:
    Develops integrated budget input and justifications for program resources and facility/equipment maintenance; oversees collection and reporting of funds; ensures compliance with regulations governing use of funds; adheres to authorized methods of acquisition.
  • Personnel Management:
    Supervises employees and volunteers; initiates personnel actions; supports EEO objectives; ensures adherence to safety, health, nutrition, and risk management policies; develops staffing schedules based on ratios and group sizes; sets local performance standards and evaluates performance; provides guidance on standards and management directives; coordinates training needs with the Training and Curriculum Specialist; ensures competency-based training tied to career progression.
  • Program Operations:
    Contributes to CYP SOP development for efficient operation; ensures distribution of employee and parent handbooks; ensures optimal use of program spaces.
  • Compliance:
    Ensures adherence to standards; implements recommendations from inspections; prepares responses to inspection reports; ensures curriculum development and implementation; enforces health, fire, safety, facility, and program regulatory guidance; ensures compliance with child abuse/neglect reporting and CACFP.
  • CYP Program Oversight:
    Manages child placement and enrollment processes across installations; coordinates Parent Participation Plans; collaborates on CYP Inclusion actions; compiles program data for reports; coordinates training across CYP staff; serves as liaison with the Regional Program Manager; maintains documentation for CNIC inspections and corrective action plans; completes duties as assigned at time of hire.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, provide evidence of immunization, be free of all communicable diseases, and obtain appropriate immunization against communicable diseases.
  • Must successfully obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as needed.
  • This position is subject to both pre-employment and random drug testing as a condition of employment. A positive drug test, or failure to submit for testing, may become the basis for removal from this position.
  • Ability to complete required training certificates, and maintain certifications or credentials required by Federal, State, and/or national accreditation institutions used as part of DoD s Child and Youth Programs.
