Pride Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist (MLS/MT) to support laboratory operations in Everett, WA. The technologist will perform all phases of laboratory testing including pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic procedures to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role requires strong technical expertise, analytical thinking, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of laboratory quality and patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform laboratory tests across various complexity levels in a timely and accurate manner.
- Analyze and evaluate laboratory results, identifying and resolving discrepancies when necessary.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
- Ensure specimen integrity throughout collection, processing, and testing procedures.
- Utilize the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for documentation, result reporting, and workflow management.
- Participate in quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing programs.
- Monitor laboratory supplies and notify leadership when inventory levels are low.
- Document laboratory activities, test results, and reagent usage accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Provide training and guidance to new laboratory staff and students when needed.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, medical staff, and laboratory personnel regarding test results and procedures.
- Support laboratory leadership in the development and evaluation of new testing methods and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science from an accredited institution.
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) certification from a nationally recognized agency such as:
- ASCP
- AMT
- AAB
- At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist preferred.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, methodologies, and scientific principles including biology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunology.
- Experience operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and computer-based documentation systems.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills in a clinical healthcare environment.
- Ability to mentor or train laboratory personnel and students.
Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods while performing laboratory testing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when handling laboratory equipment or supplies.
- Manual dexterity for precise laboratory procedures and specimen handling.
- Ability to work in environments involving chemicals, biological specimens, and laboratory equipment while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Must maintain strict patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Completion of all required compliance training and organizational policies.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective team communication.
- Demonstrate professionalism and maintain positive relationships with patients, staff, and medical providers.
