Led by a highly capable three-term Mayor who is reinforcing management systems and recruiting the next generation of finance leadership, the Finance Director position is critical to guiding the City’s fiscal strength through accurate and timely financial reporting and forecasting.

About the Position

Under the direction of the Mayor or their designee, the Finance Director oversees all financial activities of the City. Responsibilities include leadership of the Finance Department and the City Clerk‑Treasurer’s Office, as well as financial planning, investments, cash management, debt management, and internal controls. The Finance Director will lead a team of 26 FTEs committed to supporting a sound financial foundation for the benefit of Everett residents, constituents, and businesses.

The financial integrity of city government is of vital importance. The Finance Department promotes the efficient and effective use of Everett’s resources, maintains public trust through sound financial management and reporting, and preserves the historical integrity of the City’s official documents, contracts, and records.

The department operates with a 2026 budget of $4.2 million and is organized into four divisions:
Budget, Accounting, City Clerk, and Procurement.

Compensation and Benefits

The City of Everett offers a 2026 annual salary range of $180,972 to $235,680 for this position, depending on qualifications and experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
