Mechanical Design Engineer
Duration:
This would be a 6 - Months Contract to hire position.
Location:
Everett, WA
Schedule:
M-F, 7:30a-4p (no starts prior to 7a)
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and assemble test fixtures.
- Lead a team of technicians and engineers in a noisy, light industrial setting.
- Execute static/abuse/cycle testing on various aircraft interior components.
- Assist technicians with test setups and provide guidance to achieve daily tasks.
- Maintain awareness of all aspects of testing programs and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Communicate professionally with test witnesses on-site.
- Troubleshoot issues related to hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Ability to follow and give verbal instructions.
- Self-motivated, team player with a willingness to work independently.
- Punctual and able to adapt to shifting priorities.
- Physically capable of lifting at least 50 lbs and working on elevated platforms up to 20' with fall protection.
- Willing to wear PPE (e.g., masks, gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, hearing protection).
- Comfortable using basic solvents like acetone and handling materials like lead shot with proper safety precautions.
- Steel-toed boots required.
- Proficiency with 3D modeling and drafting software (Unigraphics preferred, Catia, Solidworks).
- Experience in designing and fabricating using materials like steel, aluminum, and wood.
- LabVIEW programming skills.
- Experience in writing and interpreting Test Plans/Reports.
- Familiarity with simple electronics for cycle test execution.
- Ability to work with design/stress engineers to design test fixtures.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Comfortable working with hand and power tools (e.g., grinders, saws, drills).
- Fabrication skills in mechanical work such as carpentry and/or metalworking.
- Proficiency with manual lathe, manual mill, chop saw, table saw, band saw, and other woodworking and metalworking tools.
- Previous experience with static, abuse, or cycle testing (specifically in aerospace).
- Experience with rigging, bridge and gantry cranes.
- Skilled in using precision measuring equipment (e.g., torque wrenches, calipers).
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required.
