Boeing Commercial Airplanes Offboard Communications Team – Electrical Network and Digital Connectivity System Design Engineer (Entry-Level or Associate)Location:
Everett, Washington. In this role you will lead, maintain, and support Offboard Connectivity Systems and Connectivity solutions for cutting‑edge aerospace projects, translating concepts and high‑level requirements into specific architectures and operational specifications, including the physical integration of electrical systems and components into complex airplanes. You will work with a worldwide supplier base, collaborate with customers to implement high‑quality system hardware and software, validate designs through laboratory qualification and aircraft system testing, and participate in airplane certification.
This position will be assigned to the ENDS Connectivity Group, which includes Onboard Systems, Offboard Communication, End‑to‑End Architecture testing and more.
- Develop and document moderately complex mechanical, electronic, and electrical system requirements.
- Define hardware and software requirements and specifications.
- Test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
- Assist in monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
- Resolve problems concerning fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
- Research specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
- Participate as a contributing member in airplane installation designs and certification efforts for Connectivity Systems and Airplane Programs.
- Work with external organizations within Boeing’s Commercial Airplanes, Global Service, and Test & Evaluation organizations to establish holistic end‑to‑end functions that can be verified.
- Engage with airline customers to understand their intended use of Cabin and Network Systems solutions.
- Develop and execute detailed, integrated test procedures and plans.
- Define and configure lab setup for testing.
- Participate in flight test evaluation of Connectivity Systems.
Must be willing and able to travel 25% of the time domestically and internationally.
Work AuthorizationThis position is expected to be 100% onsite at the Everett, WA location.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or a non‑US equivalent qualification directly related to the work statement.
- Experience working in an electrical design engineering environment.
- Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering degree.
- 1+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with in systems hardware and software design.
- Experience with computer networking.
- Experience troubleshooting/debugging.
- Experience with digital communication.
- Demonstrated project management skills within a fast‑paced highly integrated environment.
