, Puget Sound’s largest vessel to its fleet, ESR has expanded its capacity to serve commercial and government vessels across the West Coast. This expansion aligns with ESR’s long term strategy to invest in people, infrastructure, and capabilities that sustain the Pacific Northwest’s vital maritime industry.
- Environmental Health Services (“EHS”) Leadership: Work with all levels of organizational management to meet safety compliance and implement safety improvements and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures. Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for safety and environmental needs of the organization for employees and management. Support the implementation of safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as promote a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
- EHS Policy, Standards, Program, Plans: Implement EHS Policy and company-wide safety standards, programs throughout the organization and direction with plans and procedures for compliance with state and federal regulations. Implement site-specific plans per the safety standards and programs. At minimum make sure active ERP, PPE, Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection, Fire Prevention plans are in place and practiced.
- EHS Organization Structure Responsibilities (Emergency Response, SCP, Team): Lead the location's Emergency Response Team ensuring readiness to respond to all emergencies duct monthly ERT meetings with drills and response to ensure ERT’s readiness to respond to all emergencies. Engage local emergency personnel and coordinate response with team and authority. Document all meetings, training, drills and file per EHS requirements. Lead the Site SCPs to ensure coverage for all vessels at site that they are meeting the requirements and all safety signs and notifications are clearly marked for SCP work and other hazards throughout the location.
- EHS Organization Structure (Training): Deliver and lead training at the site to ensure the employees receive the site safety orientation and safety training as required and work with local management and safety director to achieve team’s safety training. Deliver training as needed or arrange internal or external as needed.
- EHS Loss Reporting and Investigation: Ensure reporting of all injuries and losses and events no matter how small or insignificant. Follow up that all paperwork is completed, and event is investigated to find areas for improvement. Encourage proactive and near hit reporting by the team to prevent losses before they happen. Ensure all loss, near hits, hazards and investigations are documented on EHS SharePoint and in tracker system.
Provide administrative support to the safety team and help to coordinate safety-related activities and programs. - EHS Regulatory Compliance: Assist EHS Manager to keep the OSHA Log for compliance with regulations. Work with team to make sure of compliance with environmental regulations for stormwater, waste, and air permits.
- EHS Audits and Inspections: Perform at minimum daily inspection of vessels, drydocks, yard, and facility. Document findings reporting good and areas for improvement and follow up to see that the findings are addressed timely or site is shut down until safety items are addressed. Perform daily safety walks, identify and address any hazards, non-conformance, or area for improvement.
