The Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Library Specialist to join our team. This is a part time position at 20 hours a week, providing direct service to the public at both the Adult and Youth information desks. This employee is responsible for aiding patrons in locating both simple and complex information within the library’s reference and circulating collections, as well as internet and other electronic resources.
Areas of responsibility include creating and maintaining special collections as well as providing assistance in the planning, promotion and execution of library programs such as book clubs, local history and genealogy programs, craft programs, performances, and other special programs. The Library Specialist supports the library’s vision to be the welcoming heart of the community where all come to learn, discover, create, and connect.

- Conduct face‑to‑face, telephone, or e‑mail reference interviews to establish precise information needs of library patrons.
- Assist with collection maintenance including purchasing and weeding.
- Instruct public on the use of electronic resources and digital devices.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of department displays.
- Present in‑house and outreach programs and assist with hybrid and pre‑recorded programs.
- Help maintain a safe and inviting atmosphere in the library conducive to library users.
- Review and meet ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.
- Other duties as assigned which may include assignments in other library departments.
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
- Minimum
Required:
Associates degree from an accredited school and two or more years library experience. - Preferred/Optional: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with library or experience.

This is a condition of employment. Employee must immediately notify his/her manager if he/she is threatened with exclusion or becomes excluded from any federally funded program.
