$25.91 – $31.46/ hour
The City of Everett is accepting applications on an open/competitive basis for a part‑time Library Assistant position. This position is 24 hours per week, primarily at the Evergreen Branch, with some shifts at the Main Library as needed. The role consists of 4 scheduled days per week at 4–8 hours per shift, with advance notice shifts may be modified.

This position assists librarians with story times and other programs and activities. Much of the work is performed in public areas of the library and involves regular interaction with individuals of all ages. Story times run on a set schedule, and daily routines are well‑established. After a reasonable training period, many tasks can be performed independently. Daily work is performed under the supervision of the librarian conducting the storytime or program.
Overall supervision is by a Librarian II or III.
- Printing materials, such as calendars and booklists.
- May re‑shelve library materials.
- May accompany a librarian or other library staff to community outreach events.
- Assist librarians with programs.
- Cleaning and organizing toys in the storytime area and public areas of the library.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
- Perform all functions assigned to lower classifications.
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and knowledge of library operations, policies and procedures, systems and equipment as related to a Circulation Department, AND one (1) year experience working in a public library; or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Experience with the Everett Public Library is desirable.
- Previous experience working with young children is desirable.

- Applicants claiming veterans’ preference points must submit form DD‑214 or its equivalent that characterizes his or her service as a qualifying discharge as defined in RCW 73.04.005.
- This job classification is represented by Everett Municipal Employees Local 113, AFSCME.
- New hires begin employment at the first step of the salary range.
