Position: AQUATICS SUPERVISOR

Overview

The Aquatics supervisor is responsible for assisting in the management and daily operations of the City of Evansville’s City municipal pools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating part-time aquatic staff.
  • Assists in implementing and enforcing policies, procedures and safety rules for pool personnel and general public.
  • Prepares work schedules, assigns instructors for lessons, and lifeguards for rentals.
  • Manages employee records related to timesheets, discipline, certifications, training, substituting, and evaluations.
  • Prepares accident and incident records and reports.
  • Completes daily bank deposits and delivers receipts and revenue documentation.
  • Leads monthly in-service meetings for part-time pool employees.
  • Collaborates with Swim Team Coordinators to assign coaches and assists with swim meets as needed.
  • Responds quickly and decisively in emergencies and assumes leadership.
  • Resolves problems fairly and professionally while maintaining effective program operations.
  • Listens to and considers appropriate input from subordinates, supervisors, and colleagues.
  • Works collaboratively with departmental staff, City departments, and the general public to explain services, interpret policies, and maintain coordination.
  • Performs duties that are broad in scope and involve multiple variables; exercises judgment in selecting and applying appropriate guidelines, methods, and procedures.
  • Works under moderate supervision and reports to the Program Director.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
  • Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years aquatics supervisory experience required.
Other Requirements
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including weekdays and weekends.
Work Environment and

Physical Requirements
  • Work is primarily performed at City pool facilities with occasional office duties.
  • Regular exposure to pool chemicals, water, and hot or humid conditions.
  • May be required to inspect pool equipment and facilities in coordination with the Pool Operator.
