The position of Material Handler is responsible for operation of material handling equipment for the purpose of safe and accurate shipping, processing and receiving materials and finished products. The incumbent is responsible for tasks such as, but not limited to unloading, scanning, moving, staging, loading, locating, picking, relocating, and stacking materials or finished products. The incumbent documents and records various information such as quantity, availability, and condition of materials or finished products.
This positions receives direction from a supervisor and may receive support from a process specialist, maintenance, and technical personnel.
- Day-to-day duties include complying with all safety requirements, staging packaging areas, lifting and loading materials, and preparing for shipment and distribution.
- Operate forklift or other machinery to transport raw materials and finished product to designated areas.
- Manage raw materials including organizing, handling, weighing and measuring.
- Follow standard operating procedures and LOTO procedures for all assigned tasks.
- Ensure warehouse is organized for efficient and logical flow.
- Review documents and record information; verify quantity, availability and condition of materials or products.
- Perform routine QC checks by inspecting materials and finished products for damage and checking documents/labels for accuracy.
- Perform equipment maintenance tasks (PMs, troubleshoot, repair) where applicable.
- Maintain a clean work environment and ensure tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Minimum 6 months previous experience in warehouse or forklift operation.
- Availability to work overtime or weekends on short notice as needed.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. at time of application.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine correspondence, and speak English to effectively communicate.
- Basic mathematics and computer skills; SAP experience preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal operating and LOTO procedures.
- Ability to multitask and work independently or in a team; maintain excellent attendance.
- Stand on feet up to 12 hours; capable of lifting a minimum of 55 lbs or more without reasonable accommodation.
- Willing and able to comply with respiratory fit testing; able to work in varied indoor/outdoor conditions with PPE.
- PPE requirements: long pants, long sleeves, steel-toed boots, gloves, hard hat, safety goggles, earplugs, and a respirator as required.
7pm - 7:15am, 2 days on 2 days off, every other weekend.
