Let Me Tell You AboutThe Role
The Business Performance Advisor is responsible for delivering business planning and performance management products to various bp businesses. Key responsibilities include collaborating with onsite technical and finance leadership in different geographies to gain a deep understanding of the business context, developing insightful financial products to support decision‑making, and managing planning and performance management work. The role also involves coaching less experienced analysts and effectively managing collaborator expectations.
The incumbent may be required to work under alternative shift arrangements to ensure appropriate overlap hours with European or British time zones.
- Prepare insightful financial management information to support business decisions, recommend and implement interventions, and present material for business performance discussions.
- Perform economic analysis to evaluate the financial viability of various projects or scenarios and provide insights to the business on economic drivers and sources of value.
- Promote new or standardized systems, continually improve supply‑related MI systems and processes to increase automation and move towards a self‑service model.
- As a senior leader within FP&A, work with peers in remote locations across bp to earn trust, share context and establish effective ways of working, fostering a positive working culture.
- Drive continuous improvement to promote standardization and simplification, implementing strategies that drive automation of financial products and improve efficiency of analysis and reporting.
- Coach junior team members, ensuring effective execution of the team’s accountabilities and embedding new ways of working.
- Educational qualifications:
Business/Finance or Engineering subject‑area degree or equivalent. - Preferred:
Master’s degree or post‑graduate qualification in a finance subject area (e.g., MBA, CA, ICWA/Cost Accountant). - Minimum 15 years of relevant post‑degree experience in financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting in an Oil & Gas business or similar industries.
- Extensive performance‑reporting experience in large‑scale organisations.
- Extensive experience developing and communicating financial management information to business collaborators.
- Experience delivering business planning processes.
- Proven experience with financial systems such as SAP, Microsoft products and visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Ability to manage relationships with regulatory authorities.
- Outstanding stakeholder‑management skills at various organisational levels.
- Mentoring team members towards common goals.
- A team of finance professionals within the FP&A organisation.
- Business/Functions senior leadership and local finance, technical and leadership teams in onsite locations.
