Primary Services is excited to announce the role of Mechanical Engineer for a large and well-established energy sector client. This role lets you contribute to complex substation projects that improve system reliability, optimize asset performance, and support long-term infrastructure strategy.
The Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in engineering design, cost analysis, construction coordination, and research initiatives within a highly structured and technically advanced environment.
Responsibilities- Design electric substation facilities and prepare detailed engineering work orders.
- Develop project cost estimates and support capital budgeting activities.
- Finalize project scope descriptions, workforce requirements, and engineering documentation.
- Manage assigned projects to meet established schedules and budget targets.
- Maintain and update project data within SAP systems.
- Interface with inspectors, engineers, construction personnel, warehousing teams, purchasing agents, vendors, and management regarding substation reliability, inspection technologies, and rehabilitation initiatives.
- Support construction activities by providing technical guidance and resolving field issues.
- Recommend and coordinate research and development projects, including preparation of RFPs, evaluation of contractor bids, and review of contract terms and conditions.
- Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations to management regarding project updates and technical findings.
- Participate in after-hours emergency response as required.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a related engineering field.
- Master of Science in Engineering may substitute for one year of professional experience.
- Experience in substation design, power systems, or utility infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or computer-aided drafting tools.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using SAP and GIS systems.
- Ability to perform advanced mathematical computations, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus for engineering and economic analyses.
- Experience preparing cost estimates and technical project documentation.
