RT Patterson has an opening in our Evansville, Indiana, office for a full-time electrical engineer to design and implement heavy industrial facility electrical systems. To do well in this role we would prefer that you are a licensed professional engineer and have extensive experience as an electrical engineer conforming to the following responsibilities and requirements.
Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:- Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for heavy industrial facilities.
- Experience working in heavy industrial facilities and performing field investigations and assessments.
- Ability to complete low & medium voltage power systems (instrumentation & controls, design capabilities are a plus).
- Experience with high voltage systems is a plus.
- Working knowledge of arc flash analysis software such as ETAP or SKM.
- PLC programming experience is a plus.
- Performing a wide range of engineering tasks via computer-assisted design or other engineering software and equipment.
- Conferring with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects.
- Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, and technical drawings.
- Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
- Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
- Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
- Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
- Supervising or training project team members.
- Estimating material, labor, and/or construction costs for budget preparation.
- Manage engineering projects and deliver them on time.
- Define customer needs and requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to design and apply new system processes.
- Examine needs on new equipment, calculate costs and help prepare budgets.
- Engage with clients to strengthen existing client relationships and foster new relationships.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering degree from an ABET accredited school.
- 8-10 years relevant work experience, including internship or cooperative program experience.
- Licensed as a professional engineer. (preferred)
- Knowledge of applicable electrical engineering codes and safety standards.
- Proficient in design and calculation software.
- Proven expertise as an electrical engineer.
- Problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
