Position SummaryThe Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana (USI) invites applications for a 9‑month tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in Physics to begin August 2026.
Duties & Responsibilities- Teach physics lecture and laboratory courses for science and engineering students.
- Teach astronomy or physics courses for non‑majors and upper‑level offerings for physics majors.
- Develop and lead a research agenda that produces scholarly works and incorporates undergraduate student research.
- Utilize start‑up funds and other financial support to build a productive research program, including travel support.
- Doctorate in Physics or a closely related field with experimental physics training.
- ABDs (Doctoral degree pending) considered for the rank of Instructor if the degree will be completed by the end of the first year of employment.
- For employment starting August 2026, terminal degree must be completed by the end of July 2027.

The Geology, Physics, and Environmental Science Department offers degree programs in Biophysics, Physics, and Physics Teaching, with modern instrumentation including a UNIX cluster. Physics majors may pursue one of four tracks:
Traditional, Teaching, Applied, or Computational.
